Spice Up Your Life with Cayenne

The temperature has dropped in the UK post Equinox, so we bring you our spicy Cacao brew recipe that will warm the cockles and have you feeling all toasty.

This recipe is a great one to try if you’re thinking of doing a Shamanic Journey and love to astral travel, the zing of spice can send you to another dimension. Enjoy :)

Recipe for 1 person - Vegan & Gluten Free

Ingredients

  • 25g Ritual Cacao (42g if you want to go on a shamanic journey)

  • 250ml Spring Water

  • Cayenne Pepper (to taste)

  • Organic Date Syrup

Instructions

  1. Finely chop your Ritual Cacao or break off a petal if you are using our pods.

  2. Pour the spring water into a saucepan and bring to the boil.

  3. Once the water is boiling, turn the heat down to a simmer and add your chopped cacao or cacao petal.

  4. Stir gently with a wooden spoon or whisk until all the cacao has dissolved fully.

  5. Making sure to keep the heat low, so that the cacao never boils. Just gently simmers.

  6. You will know when the cacao is ready once it starts to thicken and you see the beautiful cacao butter rise to the top. The longer and slower you take to cook up your cacao, the creamier it will be.

  7. Add cayenne pepper, 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon as a rough measure, this is to taste.

  8. Sweeten as desired with date syrup.

  9. Stir the brew all together one last time, pour into your favourite Ritual Cup and enjoy.
