A Grounding Ritual for June

June is a time of growth and renewal, making it the perfect month to establish a grounding ritual. As we finally begin to see some much needed sunshine in the UK, it's the perfect time to reconnect with ourselves and the natural world around us. Grounding rituals can help us stay centred, balanced, and in tune with nature. One beautiful way to enhance this practice is through the ritual of drinking cacao.

The Essence of Grounding

Grounding, or earthing, is the practice of connecting with the Earth's energy. It helps us stabilise our emotions, improve our mental clarity, and cultivate a sense of calm and presence. By incorporating Ritual Cacao into your grounding practice, you can deepen this connection and harness the transformative power of this ancient superfood.

Why Ritual Cacao?

Cacao is more than just a delicious drink; it's a sacred plant medicine that has been used for centuries in ceremonial practices. It contains theobromine, which provides a gentle energy lift, and anandamide, often called the "bliss molecule," which promotes feelings of happiness and well-being. Cacao also opens the heart, making it a perfect ally for grounding and connecting with yourself on a deeper level.

The Benefits of a Grounding Ritual

  • Enhanced Emotional Balance: Grounding rituals can help stabilise your emotions, making it easier to navigate the ups and downs of daily life.

  • Improved Mental Clarity: By taking time to ground yourself, you can clear your mind and improve your focus and concentration.

  • Deeper Connection: Drinking cacao opens your heart and deepens your connection to yourself and the world around you.

  • Increased Presence: Grounding helps you stay present in the moment, allowing you to fully experience and appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

Creating Your Grounding Ritual

1. Set the Scene

  • Choose a quiet, comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. Ideally, this would be outdoors in nature, but any serene spot will do if you can’t get outside. Sit on the grass or lay out a mat or blanket, burn some sage or your favourite incense to purify the space, and get your senses awakened.

2. Prepare Your Cacao

  • Use ceremonial-grade Ritual Cacao to make your perfect brew. Once your water has boiled and is simmering, slowly add your cacao until it dissolves, followed by a pinch of chili, cinnamon, and a touch of honey or maple syrup. As you prepare your drink, set an intention for your grounding practice. For more recipes CLICK HERE

. 3. Drink Your Cacao with Intention

  • Hold your ritual cacao cup in both hands. Take a moment to appreciate its warmth and aroma. With each sip, imagine the cacao's energy flowing through your body, filling you with a sense of grounding and calm. Let each sip be a moment of gratitude and connection.

4. Practice Mindful Breathing

  • Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Feel the Earth beneath you, supporting you. Visualise roots growing from your body into the ground you’re lying on, anchoring you to the Earth. Imaging any fears, worries, or any thoughts that may be holding you back, leaving your body as black sludge. And you being filled back up, through your body and through your roots, with the abundance of all the nature around you. The earth, the air, the sun… Keep repeating this meditation until your mind is clearer and the thoughts that may have been worrying you feel lighter.

5. Reflect and Journal

  • After finishing your cacao, spend some time in quiet reflection. You might want to journal about your feelings, thoughts, and any insights that arise during the ritual. This helps to solidify your intentions and integrate the experience.

6. Connect with Nature

  • If you’re outside, take off your shoes and walk barefoot on the grass or soil. Feel the Earth’s energy beneath your feet. If you’re indoors, you can still connect with nature by holding a plant, a stone, or simply seeing yourself in a natural setting.
