5 Ways To Enjoy Cacao On The Go

September’s here and it’s back to work and school for most of us. Whether you managed to get away or have been enjoying the summer days at home with friends and family, we hope you’ve been able to get outdoors, spend some time in nature and feel the sun on your skin.

As the wheel of the year turns and the first golden colours of autumn start appearing, our thoughts are also turning to the inevitable routines and busy-ness that September tends to bring. After all the fun and freedom of summer, it can be difficult to switch gears, head back to the office and return to a more structured way of being.

But don’t let commutes, colleagues and calendar invites get you down: drinking cacao can be the perfect medicine for this time of year, helping us ease back into healthy rhythms and routines, set our intentions for the last few months of the year and practice self-care despite the many demands on our time. 

While our Rituals page is packed with creative ways for you to enjoy cacao when you’ve got a bit more time and space, in this blog we share some practical tips and tricks to help you enjoy cacao on the go.

And since 13th September is International Chocolate Day, it’s the perfect time to treat yourself to some delicious, ethical and organic Ritual Cacao to support you through the autumn season.

1. Weigh, blend and batch 

To save time mid-week, why not weigh out your daily servings of cacao in advance and keep them in the fridge so they’re ready to go whenever you are? Powdering your cacao in a blender before brewing will help it melt and dissolve faster, and once ready, your brewed cacao will keep in the fridge for up to 48 hours – meaning you can make a batch in advance and you’ll always have some tasty and nourishing cacao ready to drink.

2. Rapid rituals

Even if you only have a few minutes to prepare your morning cup of cacao before rushing out the door, it can still be done with consciousness and intention. Making your cacao at the same time each morning will give your day rhythm, consistency and help ritualise the process. While preparing your cacao, ask the cacao Goddess to help you stay grounded and centred throughout the day, then visualise yourself back home in the evening feeling relaxed, calm and having accomplished all that you needed to.

3. Take cacao on your commute

To save time on those busy autumn mornings, why not add a chunk of Ritual Cacao to your breakfast smoothie and carry it with you on your commute? For best results, pour into an eco-friendly travel mug, add some uplifting music and you’ll walk into work feeling like a Zen master.

4. Prep some cacao snacks

Show yourself some love and give your colleagues food envy by prepping a batch of cacao snacks in advance. From energy balls to brownies, snacks are a great way to keep the spirit of cacao with you all day long. A personal favourite in our team is freezing chunks of fruit and then dipping them in melted cacao. Cool in the freezer and then carry a tub of these tasty treats with you wherever you go: they’re nutritious, low-cost and kids love them too.
